Hide & Seek

By default Windows hides certain files from being seen with Windows Explorer or My Computer. This is done to protect these files, which are usually system files, from accidentally being modified or deleted by the user. Unfortunately viruses, spyware, and hijackers often hide their files in the same way, making it hard to find them and then delete them.

To overcome this issue, it is necessary to change the operating systems behaviour, so that you can see hidden and protected files and thus remove them.

This is a procedure that should only be undertaken by a professional, however, your IT MSP will not normally provide this service unless you have a specific cyber security package in place with them.
