What can you do to improve you cyber security for FREE?

20th March 2025

In a time where costs seem to be constantly on the rise and times are tough, there are a few quick things that everyone can do to improve cyber security that won’t cost you anything.

Look at the list below and see if you could make any of these changes right now:

Keep your software up to date: while I understand how easy it is to ignore the notification that tells you that an update is required, it is important. By regularly updating your software you always have the latest security patches, which is essential for good cyber security.

Use strong passwords: according to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)* your password should contain a diverse array of letters, cases, symbols and numbers, should be different across your accounts and should be difficult to guess. If yours doesn’t meet this criteria, change it now!

Regularly back up your data: a security breach is very possible, even for those with the best security. To avoid the repercussions of this, have a copy of your important data, either somewhere physically or in the cloud. That way, even if the worst happens, you still have everything you need.

Adjust your settings: your devices and apps can be of great interest to cyber criminals, as it gives them access to a lot of your information. We recommend switching on privacy settings and turning off app features that you don’t use, such as Bluetooth, location services and file sharing.

Stay informed: Keeping an eye on the latest stories on how cyber criminals are attacking helps you to stay ahead of them. Maybe you saw on the news someone falling victim to a new phishing method or saw on social media that a company was recently hacked and all the related accounts breached – stay informed, stay safe!

If you want some quick cyber security wins that won’t break the bank, give these a try! And if you want more information on how to protect your business for less, contact Interfuture Security HERE.
